Travel to St. Petersburg (trip)

State reserve museum Tsarskoye selo (Pushkin) is an excellent example of marvelous architecture and art of landscape design of the late XVIII-beginning of XIX century. Constellation of outstanding architects, sculptors and artists worked here on projects, inspired by their royal customers.

Variety of artistic barocco (in the buildings, designed by F.-B. Rastrelli) and classicism (in the buildings, designed by C. Cameron, J. Quarengui, V. Stasov and others) styles are fully presented in Pushkin. Whole number of rulers, starting with Catherine II and ending with Nicholas II left the trace of their reign and living here.
The compositional center of the park is Catherine’s palace - magnificent building in Russian barocco style. Great hall of the palace, "golden suite" of show-halls, among which there is a world-famous Amber room, which is still under reconstruction, rise admiration with luxurity of their decoration. Entering the palace’s halls you may sense the spirit of Elizabeth’s and Catherine’s epochs and partly the atmosphere of Alexander I times, you will see rare objects of applied art.  

One of the best in the world  examples of classical architecture - is the palace of Alexander the I. Visiting the rooms of Nicholas the II and his wife, empress Alexandra Fyodorovna, you may get a view of sense of art of last representatives of Romanov family and see show-cabinet of an emperor, decorated in modern style. On the territory of Catherine’s and Alexander's parks, which is around 300 hectares, there are more than 100 architectural constructions, such as magnificent palaces, monuments, pavilions, bridges, marble statues and exotic examples of architecture, erection of which, was inspired by gothic, Turkish and Chinese culture. These last buildings were meant to form romantic atmosphere in different corners of parks.
